I've been watching this crab spider for some time. Usually I find them in the blossoms of flowers - but with autumn and approaching winter, they seem to have migrated to tall grass.
But first - my old friend, Lyssomanes viridis Green magnolia jumping spider
December 2, 2015 - the crab spider (Mecaphesa celer) hiding at the junction between a blade of grass and the primary stalk - waiting for something
Dec 3, 2015 - she hiding on another blade of grass
Another view of her in her hunting posture
I thought she might be waiting for a plant hopper
Dec 4, 2015 - Here she caught a small spider
Appears to be a female Leucuage venusta
Here the abdomen is better visualized - and her 8 eyes
Nearby was a male Tetragnatha sp.
