Heavy rain yesterday and I did not expect to find much. What a surprise.
Looking through a water droplet
An ant walking about
I happened upon a crab spider hiding in the mouth of my favorite micro-orchid, Asystasia gangaticam. While setting up, I disturbed her and she emerged and moved behind the blossom and hid. I tried to coax her out and eventually she jumped into my hand and them running around, dropped down - into the web of a Cyrtophora cicatrosa. She eventually escaped - but while I was not watching. Sigh.
Here is the lady of the house - Cyrtophora cicatrosa
and a view of the grid of her Gaussian web
Here is the Thomasus guangxicus resting or playing dead in the Cyrtophora web
And another view of the crab spider
