June 9, 2007: Maxwell's birthday and looking for spiders

It was Maxwell's birthday and time to introduce Maxwell to the joy of small insect hunting. I brought my LED ringlight, charged its battery and set up my camera. Maxwell called it our "spider light". Off we went. Here is what we saw.

Our first spider was one outside the kitchen window

Then she caught her dinner

Then a red flower-sort-of with small insects

We went back out and found a Leucauge dromedaria doing stretching exercises

And a large presentation to appreciate the scale (the dromedaria were about 1 cm in length)
