May 17, 2008: Kista Galleria
Its all about food and retail therapy (the Singapore term for
shopping). Typically when I get to a new
place, I make serveral survival experiments:
- Visit an ATM machine to get some money and discover the bank conversion
rate
- Visit a local convenience shop and purchase a perpaid SIM card for my
phone
- Visit a grocery store and calibarate my prices - Coca Cola is a good
test
- Visit the local bus / subway information booth to discover how to
get around
- Take some photos as a way to slow down a bit and
explore some things in detail. Better yet, follow Mike's (our 2nd son) -
take photos that tell a story - where are you walking, what do you see. That
sort of thing. It really works
Leaving the hotel - the first thing I see is Ericsson - everywhere. I suppose
this is a major Ericsson facility. Anyway - one of my best friends from
Patras, Adi, now works for Ericsson - so this must be his home away from
home
Here is another building adjacent to the Kista Galleria - so why not explore?
This is the inside of the Kista Galleria - a huge multipurpose
building (subway stop, bus stop and a large variety of retail therapy
clinics.
The Food Court - a good place to calibrate prices.
Wayne's Coffee
Tapas - Asian style
A view of the clinics from upstairs
Lower floor retail therapy clinics
A triangle building and church (I think)
A cubist (in my impression) sculpture
The subway stops
Tower cranes - giant toys for grownups - what fun to look down on
everything.
Triangle Building - either this is the Science Center or near it
Theater
The way out
Cinema - outside view
An interesting street light
