May 19, 2007: A mystery spider, revenge of the red ants and
reflections in a water droplet

What a depressing start. Our Lady-in-black has disappeared - apparently the victim of the grass mowers. There were a few Argyrodes playing on the remaining silk strands

Here are three of them

and the group

But near her spot was a small black spider, Neogea. according to David Court - another senior learning from whom, this junior learner is learning. Look under and to the right of the yellow leaf

Now for some action - she is resting quieting in her lauching potions when there is a vibration to the right lower area of her web

and off she goes to catch something

Then back home to her launching or monitor position

While capturing this sequence - I was attacked by red ants. Apparently I was the aggressor - having placed one tripod leg on their home (which I could not see) - here crawling over the macro lens

and over the camera body

Inspecting the strap

and marching down the camera strap. Needless to say, I got the message and moved

Then next to the web was a cluster of Simpoh buds with morning dew drops hanging

Then a butterfly passed by and stopped on a web leaf

and turned toward me a sort of stand-off

Then another surprise. Next to the Araneus web was another web with a piece of trash in the center. I looked closely and could not determine if this was trash or a spider

From the side - it looked like a spider

and closer, it is some sort of Cyclosa
