Last night, Damselfly organized a group of us to meet at the Singapore Botanic Garden and explore the night life of insects. What a fun time - meeting new people with names I have difficulty remembering - but with practice, I'll get better at this also.
To start - here is Damselfy with her point and shoot with led light - what a way to start the night.
Me - I rarely use flash - so being mostly on autopilot I took my first photo, by LED light without flast. 1 sec exposure.
But with flash - much better
A closer view
and a different orientation
A different dragonfly - with small depth of field - Note the focus pattern on the wings - the DOF must be less than 1-2 cm.
An unidentified bug
The head of said bug
and a green grasshopper. Sort of as curious about me as I was about he/she
Eating dinner or playing "peek-a-boo">
A sleeping frog
A cockroach with eyes
A closer view of the eyes
These little guys build their web by night and eat it at dawn. Similar to Neoscona hentzi from my garden in the US
From the front
and sort of hiding
Then a spitting spider hiding inside a leaf
